We filmed this while I was conducting the benefit auction and special appeal for the dynamite Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles Foundation! We raised 3x what they raised last year! This was my first time working with them and we implemented numerous new fundraising streams — that worked!!

Here are some moments of me leading the Benefit Auction and Special Appeal for @LAMasterChorale Gala 2024 at The Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles. We exceeded our fundraising goal and my opening auction item started at $500 and went for $50,000!! The singers gave such a powerful performance — I was so moved when I took the stage right after gala honoree @rufuswainwright sang Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. A magical night!

This event took place in the backyard of a west Los Angeles home just minutes after one of the season's biggest rain storms cleared. It took a unique approach to inspire the drizzly backyard to donate towards an already well funded public school where the needs were less clearly visible. I had to keep things moving as the area was wet and people we clustered under tents. The school is comprised of 50% kids that live in this affluent community and 50% from outside the community from less affluent homes — I leaned into how helping their own child's education directly impacts other kids that are less financially fortunate. "Rising tides lift all ships." Boom we exceeded our targets and had a blast!

This event marked the museum's first time hosting a sit-down dinner benefit with someone outside their inner circle leading a special appeal on stage. My goal was to keep the energy high, acknowledge that I'm not from Berkeley, and honor the incredible space they have passionately created. Together, we came just shy of raising $100,000!

I loved working with this amazing team and supporting the museum's invigorating mission and programs.
